Women Empowerment

Empowerment of women, is always been a hot topic since Independence. It is not only a national issue for country like India or any other developing nation but international too

In vedic-era such empowerment was not in need. Women are equally treated in those days. The condition of women in society deteriorated after 500 BC or so.
Since India's Independence we are struggling a lot to empower women. They are being discriminated in every spare of life. They are deprived of voting, taking decisions, pursuing education etc.
From Jhansi ki Rani to Indira Gandhi to Sushma Swaraj and so on examples are there to show what a women can do. But still we are lagging behind for what we want to achieve. Census shows that there are 930 females per 1000 males in India. In some states the ratio is poorer than this figure. Not only in rural and sub-urban regions have harsh conditions of women but it is prevalent in some educated urban elites group. They are still in dark phase.

Indian government have been doing a great work to uplift women , specially the rural women by introducing several schemes and jobs reserved for them.
"Beti bachao, Beti padhao" is one of a kind program implemented by govt of India.
In spite of all such things, we heard of female-infanticide cases, predetermination of gender before birth.
In the past some great leaders like Raja Rammohan Roy(a social reformer) had put tremedous effort to abolish Sati-Pratha, Widow-remarriage etc to bring about a change in the society of ours.
Before India got independence, Britishers also helped empower women in India.
Western countries have well evolved themselves to get rid of the problem we are facing till date.
Without empowering women and giving equal status as men enjoys, nothing can do to empower a nation. From rural villages of Northern-India to urban elites women are deprived of equal status. A sense of fear still exists in women, since their safety become an issue. "The Nirbhaya case in Delhi" really made our head down before every society residing in any corner of the world.
We are ashamed of our police forces to some extent due to political interference in policing whose prime responsibility is to safeguard not only women but each and every citizen.
Now the society is changing rapidly in order to bring about a change we want to empower our country. The widespread slogan "Beti bachao, Beti padhao" have immensely brought a change in the mindset of men, women and family. We had female supreme commander of Indian Armed Forces and now we can proudly say that we have female fighter pilots in Indian Air-force. Now every girl can aspire to become fighter pilot which was men-only force in that coveted fighter stream of IAF.
It is not only the govt who can do everything to bring changes in society, it is we people who can urge the deep rooted society to awaken the coming generation towards women empowerment in order to have a well-developed nation.
