International Tea Day on 21st May Globally

International Tea Day was observed globally on 21st May: International Tea day is celebrated globally on May 21 on the recommendation of India, which is World leader in Tea-production after China. This day is observed to try to improve the condition of tea producers and tea workers worldwide. Tea producing countries make a lot of profit by exporting tea-products worldwide but the conditions of labour working in the tea plantations is very bad. Therefore the purpose of observing May-21 is to encourage the confidence of tea workers, women working there, worker's rights, daily wages etc. HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL TEA DAY: The United Nations General Assembly in New York has designated May 21 as International Tea Day based on a proposal put forwarded by India at the FAO inter-governmental group on Tea in October 2015.
