India becomes member of United Nations body ECOSOC

India has now become a member of ECOSOC:




India has been elected as a member of Commission on Status of Women, a body under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) which is a part of United Nations.

India is going to have a four year term that is from 2021-2025.



Apart from India, countries like Afghanistan, China has also contested to be the member. But they failed to achieve that. 

ECOSOC that is Economic and Social Council is part of the United Nations. It is headquartered in New York, USA.

It is the central platform to foster sustainable goals and achieve it collectively through consensus among various countries internationally. It is also responsible to follow up major conferences and summits associated with Economic and social well being for the people all over the world.
